Book Club Books
There are two types of books that can be added to a book club schedule:
- Internal books: These are books that exist in the Stump library
- External books: These are books that do not exist in the Stump library, but can still be added to a book club via manual entry of the book’s details (title, author, and optionally a cover image URL)
Scheduling
There is no explicit scheduling features for book clubs yet. The general flow is that a book is designated as the ‘current book’ for a given book club, and then members read that book at their own pace. When the club is ready to move on, the current selection is archived and a new book is then selected.
This might change in the future to support users who want more powerful automations around scheduling, but for now this is the general process.

Suggestions and Voting
This is not yet implemented, so present tense phrasing should be taken with a grain of salt. I just don’t want to delete and rewrite this section when I implement it
Any member of a book club can suggest a book for the club to read. These suggestions are visible to all members of the club, and they can upvote suggestions that they like. I will not add any downvoting features, please don’t ask.
The club admins can then view the list of suggestions and their respective upvotes, and use that information to help guide their decision on what book to select next.
Future Improvements
Some features that I think would be nice to have:
- Loose scheduling features, such as the ability to set a target date for finishing a book and some basic reminders around that
- Automation around suggestions based on upvotes, such as the ability for club admins to configure a setting that will automatically make the most upvoted suggestion the current book once the current book is archived
